TFAS BRIEFING
Summer Newsletter - Issue 2
It’s hard to believe that we are moving towards September, time certainly has flown!
Over the last few weeks, we have created and launched a number of new initiatives designed to help firms stay ahead of regulation and to take advantage of opportunities opening up.
Inside our second summer newsletter, we provide a timely reminder of just what’s now available from TFAS Compliance Services.
Regulation
Regulation continues to be our primary area of support, and we have been working with a number of firms over the last few weeks to help with preparations ahead of the annual Consumer Duty report deadline.
In a recent TFAS Briefing, we provided a summary of some of the key themes we have seen, along with our guidance on what firms should be doing when compiling their board reports and what to look at when it comes to evidencing compliance with the Duty.
Compliance in Focus
Earlier this month, we ran or latest Compliance in focus webinar. The hour-long webinar provided a practical look at some of the most important regulatory initiatives affecting advice firms today, before moving into two deeper-dive sessions on cyber security and non-financial misconduct, each supported by specialist guest input.
You can watch back OnDemand via the link below:
During the webinar, we took a deep dive into non-financial misconduct (NFM), with regulatory changes coming in from 1st September. The session included practical guidance and insight, and we are now updating our templates ahead of the new rules to ensure NFM is appropriately addressed across recruitment and regulatory references, fitness and propriety, training and competence, and whistleblowing.
We also took a deep dive into cyber security, including a look at secure communication with Beyond Encrypt. As a follow-up, you can now access further guidance and book a free trial to test a proven solution:

The FCA published its 2026 Wealth Management Survey Report
The FCA published its 2026 Wealth Management Survey Report on 18 August, drawing on data from around 400 discretionary wealth managers. Whilst it is framed as a wealth management piece, the direction of travel it sets out - on fair value, vulnerability, financial crime and AI governance - lines up closely with what we’re already seeing land on advice firms through Consumer Duty supervision.
TFAS Compliance Services Managing Director, Marjolaine Quirke outlines what advisers need to know about the FCA’s proposals to simplify the pensions and investment advice rules in this week’s Professional Adviser.
