TFAS BRIEFING
Summer 2026 - Quarterly Newsletter - Issue 1
As we have moved into the second half of the year, we wanted to take stock of the first half of 2026 and to remind firms of the support available to you as members of TFAS and to shine a light on some exciting new developments.
Regulation
Regulation continues to top advisers' list of challenges, and with more change on the horizon and an increasingly data-driven regulator, its vital firms have access to the right information and support.
Extending our services to you - meet the new members of the team
To make sure you continue to receive the very best support, we're bolstering the core areas of our service and welcoming new specialists to the team.
Regulatory consultancy
A core part of our service is delivered by our consultants, who work with each firm to understand its individual business needs and provide a bespoke, hands-on service.
To expand this core delivery, we're delighted to announce that Mark Forsey - known to many of you from our helpdesk - will be providing a wider consultancy service alongside his helpdesk duties. The team also welcomes Daniel Gash, who brings over 17 years compliance experience, working with both small and national firms to build robust, commercially sensible compliance frameworks.
File checking
Another vital part of our service is file checking whether pre- or post-advice. It's used by many of our members and provides great oversight and guidance on advice given. To further strengthen this area, we're delighted to welcome Graeme Hunter to the team, who brings over 20 years experiences in financial services, with particular experience of supporting firms with due diligence when acquiring, file checking and Training and Competence.

Mid-Year Outlook 2026:
The shock absorbers
The recent market fluctuations are shaping our next round of webinars. For more insight and predictions, we asked our friends at Fidelity to share their Mid-Year Outlook with members.
At the half-way point of 2026 our analysts are positive about the global economy and the returns that AI investment is helping companies deliver. But we also recognise there may be further shocks to come. Our latest outlook examines how to deal with higher inflation, where to allocate for this complex macro environment, and where to find the best opportunities in agentic AI. We also share views direct from our portfolio managers, and the latest thinking from our Digital Assets team.

What the World Cup can teach us about retirement planning
Retirement planning is entering a new phase. As clients move from building wealth to drawing an income from it, the challenge shifts from accumulation to sustainability. Like a successful football team competing over a long tournament, retirees need more than a strong start - they need a strategy that can adapt to changing conditions, withstand pressure and deliver results over the long term.
Just as no winning team relies on a single star player, successful retirement strategies depend on diversification and discipline. The goal is not simply to build wealth, but to create a reliable income stream capable of supporting the retirement clients have spent a lifetime working towards.
